A dog named Charlie has been hailed a hero for waking up his owner and alerting him to a rapidly spreading RV fire that was threatening nearby homes in Clovis, California. The fire began in an RV around 3 am on April 28, quickly spreading to the exterior of two homes. Charlie, a 2-year-old Labradoodle, woke up his owner Chad McCollum by whining to go outside. In the backyard, Charlie began barking until McCollum emerged and saw the smoke and flames. McCollum called 911 and woke up the affected neighbors, ensuring they reached safety. The Clovis Fire Department honored Charlie with a medal and a firefighter helmet for his bravery. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
